Dr Lok Ping (Valerie) So
school Qualifications
MBChB, FRACGP, FHKCFP, Pg Dip in Geriatric Medicine (HK, HKU)
Biography
I am a person who loves to listen to stories, so I am eager to know each of my patients as a person rather than just a disease he/she is suffering from. Everything happens for a reason(s) especially for chronic diseases. Therefore I am in love with family medicine as I could provide comprehensive, holistic and continuous care for my patients with regular visits.
I was born and raised in Guangdong, China and followed my parents to Hong Kong when I was 16 years old. I completed my medical degree in The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2013. I started working as a family doctor in the public sector in Hong Kong while continued to pursue my post-graduate diploma in Geriatric Medicine (Medicine focusing in Elderly). I obtained both fellowships from Royal Australian College of General Practice and Hong Kong College of Family Physicians in 2022. In 2023, my husband and I decided to relocate our family to Canberra. The first year of practice in Canberra was challenging for me. The disease entities, the epidemiology, the different cultural and socio-economical background of patients and the languages were all different from those in Hong Kong. I was very blessed to have a lovely team to work together and sorted out everything and practiced for 2 years before coming to Perth. Therefore, I am fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.
I consult on all aspects of General Practice and my interests include Women's Health and Geriatrics. I am skilled in Implanon insertion and removal, ear syringing and iron infusion.
I enjoy cooking, reading and watching movies with my 3 kids. Don’t be surprised if you see me around the libraries and movie theaters. You are very welcome to share with me the books and movies that you like. Look forward to meeting you.

Becky is a compassionate and dedicated developmental psychologist who is passionate about understanding and supporting neurodiverse individuals.
